Manchester United decided to switch their attention from Real Madrid striker, Alvaro Morata to Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, because the negotiations were dragging on too long.
On Thursday, United agreed £75million deal to sign Lukaku from Goodison Park , despite being strongly linked with Morata for weeks.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils became fed up with Madrid’s dithering on whether to sell Morata or not.
In recent years, United’s pursuit of players from the European champions – Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos – ended with the players signing extensions at the Bernabeu.
Talks continued over the last month, but once it emerged that Lukaku was amenable to reuniting with Mourinho rather than rejoining Chelsea, Ed Woodward ended negotiations with Real.
